What has to happen?
As an Aboriginal woman proud of her heritage and mindful of the social ills affecting all aspects of indigenous life I ask a simple question, "What has to happen?" What has to happen so that true and lasting health and wellness return to Aboriginal communities across all of Canada? To ...

Will the Phoenix of healing rise from the ashes?
A contact sent me a rather interesting story which ran originally in the North Shore Outlook, a local north Vancouver newspaper. The headline read: Squamish elders torch drug den. When I was able to get past the fact that the writer hadn't capitalized Elders, I read the article and was ...

Help

Welcome to our on-line help desk.

In this document are solutions to common problems encountered when using the Netscape Communicator or Navigator, or Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers.

Q: I keep getting errors at this site that say Java, or JavaScript.

One of the challenges faced when running an interactive web site comes from clients (that's you) who use different computers (PC, Mac, UNIX, terminals, etc.) and different browsers (Netscape, Explorer, etc.). Even within the same product line there are incompatibilities (ie. between Netscape 1.0 and 4.01). The best solution is to run the newest software available for your system. As of May 2003, Netscape is running their Communicator software at revision 7.0 and Internet Explorer is at revision 6. We urge you to use these browsers. You can download them for free by clicking Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Q: I keep getting an error page saying 404 error, server not responding or images are not loading.

Whoa. Now we have troubles. A 404 error or pictures not loading are usually due to missing files on our web server. Sometimes this may also be due to high traffic. Dropping a note to our web master would be most helpful in this matter. You can do this by clicking here.

Q: When I do a search I get long list that lists the same item more than once.

When you use the search engine on the new Visions site you are actually accessing a data base. Your search may be accessing the same category under different headings (i.e. Social Support Networks under both the Mental and Emotional headings).

Q: Where are you located and how can I contact you?

We are located in the city of St. Albert in the province of Alberta. For those of you who have never visited Canada we have cold winters (-30 degrees Celsius is not uncommon) and mild summers (25 degrees Celsius). We are pretty far north for a major Canadian city and often see the northern lights (also known as the Aurora borealis) even in the light bleed from the city.
